Listening to What Women Want for Family Planning in Qambar Shahdadkot, Sindh

The Forum for Safe Motherhood (FSM), with the support of Costed Implementation Plan (CIP) Secretariat, organized a two-day listening session as part of the What Women Want for Family Planning project, at Qambar ShahdadKot, Sindh Pakistan. The listening session served to amplify the voices and demands of women regarding family planning services and take these demands to the relevant decision makers at the district level. The sessions were facilitated by FSM’s Provincial Coordinator and representatives from our partner organizations, The Rural Support Program Network (RSPN) and Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO).

The participants in the listening session on the first day included 13 women from the What Women Want (WWW) campaign that happened in 2019. In addition to the WWW campaign participants, two Lady Health Workers (LHWs) participated in the listening session. The second day of the session was chaired by the District Health Officer. Session attendees included the Deputy Population Welfare Officer, District Manager of People Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI) Sindh, District Manager of Integrated Health Services (IHS), District Community Officer National Program, Representative of CIP Secretariat, Focal Person of District Health Information System (DHIS), District Program Officer SRSO, the Provincial Coordinator of FSM, and vocal WWW campaign participants.

Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Provincial Coordinator FSM is briefing the participants about the project “ Family Planning to Achieve What Women Want” under which the listening session is being conducted.

The participants of the Listening session listening to the demands of Family Planning came forwards in the ‘What Women Want’ campaign, shared by the SRSO and FSM teams. We can also see that all the SOPS by the government are being followed.

The participants of the listening session are confirming the Family Planning demands and sharing their suggestions against those demands.

The Forum for Safe Motherhood team is monitoring the Listening session virtually via online streaming while observing SoPs/ Protocols.

The feedback of women on the Family Planning demands captured on the first day of the listening session are being shared with the decision makers.

Representative from the government is giving his feedback on the demands and suggestions that came forward on the first day of the listening session.

The Forum for Safe Motherhood and the Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN), mobilized demands from nearly 250,000 women and girls in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and the provinces of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as part of the What Women Want campaign.
